Introduction & utilization of donation

In July 2022, we had the pleasure to meet ActionAid Hellas team and offer a grant for the organization's needs.

ActionAid started in Greece with the Child Sponsorship program in 1998. Since then, the program has been supporting communities in 19 countries, providing them with the necessary tools & skills to cover their basic needs and improve their living conditions.

Furthermore, ActionAid Hellas has been:

- operating the Athens Community Center in Kolonos since 2017 that is addressed to vulnerable citizens who face financial problems and/or social marginalization. The Community Center offers free services (social, financial, and employability support services) as well as educational programs for people of all ages

- operating the ActionAid Youth Hub in Thessaloniki since 2020 that focuses on empowering young people (18-35) in terms of active citizenship, youth leadership through arts & volunteerism, and job readiness

- supporting the fire-stricken population of Evia through a Community Center based in Strofylia village since 2022 that provides educational, psychosocial and agricultural entrepreneurial activities along with its partners

- providing free legal support to women who have experienced sexual harassment at work and raising awareness/advocating for women empowerment though a variety of activities and capacity building trainings

- campaigning and advocating towards climate justice, contacting research on the consequences of climate change to local populations, being on the field through climate adaptation projects & urgent appeals

This October, ActionAid Hellas is implementing a solidarity trip in Senegal and more specifically to Djilor, a community that has been supporting since 2013, setting the education, the food adequacy, and the women empowerment as its strategic priorities.

During this trip, the team of volunteers will help with the construction of a Resource Center that will be used as an educational hub, a library for children & adults, a place for the community's meetups and extracurricular activities for the kids.
