Aegean Cargo Sailing's emissions-free voyage in 23 Greek islands begins

This summer we’re sailing towards a future free of polluting fossil fuels, with Aegean Cargo Sailing and its vessel Pelago. Pelago is the first transport sailboat in the world going solar electric. It has passed the first test of energy autonomy with tangible proof of success, after having completed its tour around the Peloponnese (350 nautical miles) using only clean energy sources (wind and solar).

Now, it’s traveling together with Marina Star on a round in 23 Greek islands (Jul 2nd – Aug 28th), showing us the way for emissions-free transportation and zero carbon footprint products’ distribution. We are pleased to sponsor the Aegean Cargo Sailing's voyage and we applaud their efforts to spread the word of a sustainable, blue economy.

The 11th edition of the Aegean Film Festival in Spetses

The 11th edition of our beloved Aegean Film Festival will take place in Spetses on July 7 - 17, 2022 and will include a variety of films & documentaries, social events, and the Echoes Program.

Echoes is an international summit where filmmakers, scientists, and environmentalists come together. It consists of documentary screenings, Q&A’s, panel-talks, presentations, workshops and the Rescript the Future Competition. By bringing knowledge, people and resources in the same location, the goal is to fast-track environmental projects and amplify awareness about ways to make a positive impact.

We had the honor of supporting the Echoes Program during last year’s Aegean Film Festival in Paros and we’re so glad to see it progress!

Ecogenia introduces a robust civic-service model in Greece

On Thu 3 March, the French Institute organized the "Towards a European Mandate of Active Citizen in Greece" event, in collaboration with the French Associations Le Collectif pour un Service Civique Européen & Unis-Cité and the Greek organization Ecogenia, under the auspices of the Embassy of France in Greece.

90 young Greeks answered the call to participate in a consultation workshop on the transformational potential of civic service for youth and society as a whole. They shared ideas, concerns and best practices that exist across the EU for how a paid civic service term could catalyze active citizenship and offer opportunities and prospects to youth to pursue fulfilling experiences - and even better career prospects - while contributing to a sustainable and climate-safe future.

Check out the highlight video from the special event that showcases the impact of civic service and the potential for a national program here in Greece.
