As it enters its third year since incorporation, Stewards continues its mission towards advancing the Steward-Ownership model in Greece—a forward-thinking approach to business ownership that prioritizes purpose and long-term sustainability over profit. Focused on fostering a new paradigm of governance, Stewards is committed to continuing its core work and implementing its strategic goals for 2025.
Introduction & Utilization of Donation
Stewards remains committed to advancing a new paradigm of ownership in Greece through the Steward-Ownership model. With the support of this donation, the organization will continue to facilitate the establishment of the first steward-led entities in the Greek ecosystem — beginning with Ten Million Hands and Schema Labs — while actively exploring additional partnerships.
In 2024, Stewards made the strategic decision to become an equity partner in the Ten Million Hands project, further cementing its role as the implementation vehicle for the steward-ownership movement in Greece. Together with the Helidoni Foundation, Stewards shares a vision of empowering both new and established mission-driven organizations — aligned with one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — to transition to steward ownership through multi-year funding, mentorship, and hands-on support.
The donation will be allocated to support the following key initiatives throughout 2025:
- Revamp and activate the Advisory Board through quarterly half-day workshops
- Provide tailored support to the first two steward-owned organizations
- Identify and guide new or existing SDG-aligned entities interested in adopting steward ownership
- Redesign the Stewards website to reflect the updated mission, and connect it with the Helidoni Foundation and the global steward knowledge center
- Finalize the Greek translation of the open-source guide for transitioning to steward ownership
- Complete a collaboration agreement with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
- Produce a white paper on alternative financing tools for steward-owned enterprises, including Shared Earnings Agreements and Revenue-Based Loans
- Connect emerging steward-led ventures with Helidoni Labs for seed funding and support
- Explore the creation of a dedicated fund to support early-stage steward-owned startups
In parallel, Stewards will intensify its fundraising efforts with other foundations, high-net-worth individuals, and mission-aligned institutions. A long-term sustainability plan is also underway, aiming to gradually reduce dependence on grants by generating income through workshops, advisory services, and access to European funding programs.
