Enas Allos Dromos

Enas Allos Dromos is a non-profit organization based in Western Greece dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage, environmental sustainability and community-based education. Operating in the wider area surrounding the historic Monastery of Poretsou, the organization develops initiatives that reconnect communities with traditional knowledge, rural landscapes and local cultural heritage. Through restoration projects, educational workshops, volunteer programs and cultural events, Enas Allos Dromos promotes the sustainable reuse of abandoned heritage sites and supports the transmission of traditional crafts, including stone masonry and lime construction techniques. By collaborating with local communities, cultural associations and international partners, the organization creates opportunities for collective learning, creativity and social participation, while contributing to the revitalization of rural areas through culture, sustainability and community engagement.

Introduction & utilization of donation

With the support of the grant, Enas Allos Dromos is organizing the first Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) Summer Camp, which will take place in the area surrounding the Monastery of Poretsou between 24-26 July 2026.

The initiative aims to bring together organizations, cooperatives, grassroots initiatives and practitioners from across Greece who are active in the field of social and solidarity economy. Through a three-day gathering combining workshops, discussions and collaborative activities, participants will exchange best practices, share experiences and tools, and explore opportunities for cooperation and long-term network building.

The program responds to the growing need for stronger connections and knowledge exchange among SSE actors operating across different regions of Greece. While many initiatives are developing impactful community-based and alternative economic models, opportunities for in-person collaboration, reflection and collective learning remain limited.

The grant supports both the preparatory phase and the implementation of the camp. Funding is allocated toward the development of essential infrastructure for the gathering, including the construction of basic facilities and communal spaces, as well as logistical equipment and materials required for the smooth organization of the event. During the camp, the grant also covers communal meals, participant support costs and essential supplies, while post-event funding contributes to the travel expenses of participating organizations from across Greece.

Beyond the event itself, the Summer Camp seeks to establish a long-term platform for collaboration within the Greek social and solidarity economy ecosystem. The first edition functions as a pilot initiative designed to lay the foundation for an annual gathering that will gradually expand in scale, participation and thematic depth.

In the coming years, Enas Allos Dromos aims to develop the camp into a landmark annual meeting point for SSE organizations and practitioners in Greece - a space for dialogue, partnership-building, mutual support and collective empowerment. By fostering stronger networks and encouraging the exchange of knowledge and practices, the initiative contributes to strengthening community resilience, sustainable local development and alternative approaches to economic and social organization.
